Education — Understand
You can only change what you understand
I do not mean understanding something only conceptually. I mean an experiential understanding: seeing something so clearly within your own experience that the way you relate to yourself, others and life begins to change.
“You only change what you understand. What you do not understand and are not aware of, you repress. You don’t change. But when you understand it, it changes.”
— Anthony de Mello
Education as awakening
Waking people up
For me, education is not about filling the mind with more information. It is about waking people up to their true nature.
“The teacher is not the giver of truth; the teacher is a guide, a pointer to the truth that each student must find for himself.
— Bruce Lee”
A teacher cannot give another person insight. A teacher can create the conditions for discovery, ask questions, offer experiences and point toward where insight may be found. But the student must see for themselves.
This is the kind of education I want to offer: not ready-made answers, but spaces in which attention deepens, common sense becomes available and something new can be seen.
Far Eastern Movement Cultures
The wisdom of the ages for modern life
In my work as a university lecturer, one of the subjects I teach is called ‘Far Eastern Movement Cultures’. It explores how traditions such as Taoism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sufism understand the relationship between body, mind and the human experience.
These traditions invite us to approach education differently. They are not only systems of ideas to study, but practices to experience.
The purpose is not to adopt a particular philosophy or belief system. It is to create the conditions in which students can observe, question and discover what feels true to them through their own experience.
Students are not asked to remember information. They are invited to notice what happens within them.
“What you judge, you cannot understand.”
The purpose is not to adopt a particular philosophy or belief system. It is to create the conditions in which students can observe, question and discover what feels true through their own experience.
Through slow and conscious movement, students have an opportunity to step out of constant analysis and experience learning through the body.
When understanding moves from the mind into the body, the grounding expands. An idea becomes something we can feel, inhabit and live from.
This is where education becomes embodiment.
BEYOND THE UNIVERSITY WALLS
These conversations belong to everyone.
While teaching these subjects, I began to recognize something important: these conversations should not remain inside university walls.
The questions we explore—how thought shapes experience, how we relate to emotions, how we inhabit the body and how we find clarity within ourselves—belong to everyone.
This realization led to the creation of the Coming Home Series: accessible and experiential learning spaces where ancient wisdom, contemporary understanding and embodied practice can meet.
The Coming Home Series
Three explorations: One journey home
The Coming Home Series is a beautiful journey that explores the body, the feelings & emotions, and the mind. All of them are based on the work I´ve been sharing at the University of Innsbruck, bringing insights, reflections, and inspiration to my students.
Coming Home to Your Body
An exploration of embodiment, movement, sensation and the body’s innate intelligence. Participants learn to listen more closely, recognize habitual tension and rediscover the body as a place of presence, vitality and connection.
Coming Home to Your Emotions
An exploration of emotions as meaningful experiences rather than problems to control or eliminate. We learn to meet emotions with greater curiosity, compassion and understanding—and to recognize what they may be showing us.
Coming Home to Your Mind
An exploration of thought, awareness, deep listening and mental wellbeing. We look beyond techniques for controlling the mind and begin to understand how our inner experience is created. From that understanding, more space, clarity and ease can naturally emerge.

PERSONAL MENTORSHIP
A space to come home to yourself—and bring more of yourself into your work.
This six-month mentorship is designed for movement teachers, coaches, educators and facilitators who want to deepen their presence, embody their understanding and develop a more authentic way of guiding others.
It is not another fixed method to follow. Through personal conversations, embodied exploration and reflection on your work, we create space for your own voice, wisdom and direction to emerge.
Understand yourself. Embody your work. Teach from who you are.
Because the quality of what we offer others begins with the place within ourselves from which we offer it.
“The intention is not to make you teach more like me. It is to help you become more fully yourself in your work.”
